The railway network in Central Asia is not developed to the same extent as, for instance, in Europe. While some countries have none (Kyrgyzstan) or very limited rail connections (Tajikistan), Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have steadily expanded their rail networks in recent years. However, trains do not run as frequently as in Europe: most times there are only one or two trains a day to a particular city, and not every route is served by high-speed trains. During the high tourist season, train tickets usually are sold out quickly, particularly if you want to travel by high-speed train.
