The railway network in Central Asia is not developed to the same extent as, for instance, in Europe. While some countries have none (Kyrgyzstan) or very limited rail connections (Tajikistan), Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have steadily expanded their rail networks in recent years. However, trains do not run as frequently as in Europe: most times there are only one or two trains a day to a particular city, and not every route is served by high-speed trains. During the high tourist season, train tickets usually are sold out quickly, particularly if you want to travel by high-speed train.
Therefore, you have much more flexibility when using a private car. Not only can you determine your own departure time, but you can also make a photo stop if you wish. In addition, you have the opportunity to make short detours to visit the sights along your route. For example, on the road from Samarkand to Bukhara, you can go either through Gijduvan (famous for ceramics production) or through Shakhrisabz (UNESCO World Heritage Site and birthplace of Uzbekistan’s national hero Amir Timur).
In addition, the advantage of a private car is that you will be driven directly to the hotel, and you do not have to search for a cab at the train station or order a separate transfer to the hotel.
With us, you can book a chauffeur-driven car for your city-to-city transfers as well as for separate stages of your Central Asia trip.
