Samarkand is one of the most famous cities in Uzbekistan and Central Asia, known as the 'Rome of the East' to travellers and also one of the major centres of the Great Silk Road during its existence. The city was the capital of the once enormous Timurid Empire and gained international fame in the 14th and 15th centuries.

The historical monuments of Samarkand are spread at a distance from each other, so the Samarkand tour includes a vehicle with a driver and a tour guide. The duration of the tour is about 6-7 hours.
If required we will be happy to arrange train tickets for the speed train to/from Samarkand at an additional charge.

Places of visit:

Registan square: the landmark of Samarkand, and perhaps of all of Uzbekistan. You will visit three madrassahs, each of which is unique in its decoration;
Gur-Emir mausoleum: the burial site of Tamerlane and his family;
Bibi-Khanum mosque: named after Tamerlane's favorite wife, the largest historical mosque in Central Asia;
Shahi-Zinda necropolis: a street of mausoleums, each one fascinating in its beauty;
Ulugbek observatory: in the 15th century, a catalogue of 1018 stars was created and the length of the astronomical year was calculated;
